AS expected, the Chancellor has confirmed that there will be a Seed Enterprise investment Scheme (SEIS) starting from April 6, 2012. This is to encourage investment in small, early stage companies (with 25 or fewer employees and assets of up to £200,000) carrying on, or preparing to carry on, a new business in a qualifying trade. This is possibly the highlight of the Budget and should encourage private individuals to provide badly needed finance for small businesses.
