Hydro Office runs Nippon course

OVERSEAS hydrographic officers have been at the Taunton-based UK Hydrographic Office on a 15-week cartography course in support of the Japan Capacity Building Project.
The delegates, from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mexico, Oman, Pakistan and the Philippines, were taught how to produce and maintain navigatiopnal charts.
The students completed numerous practical assignments and went on field trips to the Bristol Port Authority, Britannia Royal Naval College, Brixham Coastguard and ABP Southampton.
Capt Hugo Gorziglia, director of the International Hydrographic Bureau, and UK National Hydrographer Rear Admiral Nick Lambert presented certificates to the students.
