Wellington ready for visit of Services
4:40pm Thursday 2nd September 2010
Wellington kick-off their season in Western Counties West on Saturday at home to Devonport Services (3pm). Wellington, who won the Devon and Cornwall league with a 100% record last year, look set for another strong season after only losing narrowly to Sidmouth and Exmouth, who play in South West 1 and National 3 respectively. Wellington will be looking to defend an unbeaten record that stretches back to February 2009 on Saturday and coach Dave Sims, a former Gloucester lock, has yet to experience defeat since joining the club. Sims expects a tough game on Saturday and said: “We’ve never played at this level before so we’re not too sure what to expect. We’ll give each team we play the respect they deserve and won’t underestimate them but it’ll be very much a case of taking each game as it comes.” n WIVELISCOMBE are away to Keynsham II on Saturday in their opening game of the season. Wivey, who play in Tribute Somerset 1, finished fourth in the league last season and will be looking for an improved showing this season.
