FOOTBALL: Taunton Town entertain Paulton tomorrow
9:47am Thursday 2nd February 2012

Taunton Town have home advantage for the third successive week when they entertain Paulton Rovers in the Evo-Stik League tomorrow (Saturday), kick-off 3pm.
After draws against Abingdon United and Bishops Cleeve, Town will be hoping it is third time lucky with victory over their fourth- placed visitors who have already beaten them twice this season.
Paulton won an FA Trophy tie at Wordsworth Drive in October and a month later beat Taunton 2-0 in a league fixture. Despite those setbacks, manager Paul West has no concerns going into Saturday’s encounter.
He said: “If we can play to our capabilities there is no reason why we cannot get a result.”
Last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Bishops Cleeve made it only one defeat in seven games for Taunton but West has no doubts that the solitary point gained versus the Gloucestershire outfit was two points dropped.
He added: “Had we taken our chances we would have had the game won by half time.
“I counted we had 11 clear opportunities to score during the game but failed to convert enough of them into goals.
“If we start doing that, the draws will turn into wins.”
Taunton will still be missing Darren Rice who is serving the final game of his suspension, and Peter Knox who is unavailable.
However goalkeeper Lee Matthews has finally completed his ban and should return for his home debut.
For the Paulton game and the match with Gosport in a fortnight, the club are offering reduced admission prices for adults and senior citizens, and free admission to Under 18s on receipt of the voucher printed in today’s County Gazette.
Chairman Kevin Sturmey said: “We hope this initiative will help attract some new supporters through the gate, and all being well they like what they see and come back for more.”
Before the game, the proceeds from last July’s Armed Forces Charity Day will be presented to the designated charities.
The day raised nearly £10,800 which will be split between the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, RAF Benevolent Fund, Royal British Legion, The Soldiers’ Charity, and Help For Heroes.
Taunton Town Under-18s play Street at Wordsworth Drive in the Somerset Floodlight Youth League on Monday evening, kick-off 7.45pm.
Town’s youth team, who top the table, will be keen to get back in action after their last few matches have been postponed due to the weather
